Common FAQ View the top 5 common FAQ's of nextSTAT |
|
How does nextSTAT work? |
|
nextSTAT
works by using a 'tagging'
method, which is essentially
a small snippet of javascript "code
tags" that you place into
each of your site's pages.
Each time a visitor loads one
of your site's pages with the
nextSTAT code tags in them,
those tags are executed and
will send information back
to nextSTAT's servers for your
account. nextSTAT takes this
information and parses it into
a usable format so that it
can be used in providing you
with reporting later. All of
the data is stored on nextSTAT's
servers, which are maintained
and serviced at our facility,
making your life easier since
there is no software, database
machines, or log files for
you to maintain on your end.
We collect, store, backup,
and provide you with the data
you need to make informed business
decisions about your site. |

Lost Password? |
|
Because
of the sensitive nature of
the information gathered by
nextSTAT, we must verify that
you have rights to the account
before a username/password
can be given out. The easiest
way is for us to send login
information to the email address
associated with the account.
If you are no longer using the
email you signed up with, you
must send us an email with the
following information:
Your username (if you remember
it), first and last name, website
URL, any information that can
be used to verify that you are
who you say you are.
If you paid with a credit card,
you can use the following information
for verification: the last four
digits of the credit card number,
the expiration date, the name
associated with the credit card,
the address that the credit card
is billed to.
If you do not pay with credit
card, you need to either send
us an email from a domain or
company that you own, for example,
name@mydomain.com, or use an
email that is published on your
site. |

Installation |
|
Before
nextSTAT can be of any use
to you, it first needs to be
installed to your site, since
no data will be collected otherwise.
To accomplish this, you’ll
need to generate a set of JavaScript “code
tags” which you will
then need to have inserted
into each and every page on
your site. If you are comfortable
working with the HTML of your
site, then this is a very trivial
process. If you have someone
else maintain your site, you
will need to generate the code
tags and give them to the appropriate
person so that they may insert
them into your site pages.
After you have successfully
logged in, click the Sites
Settings tab found near the
top of the screen. On the left
side of the screen, there is
a link labeled Generate Code
Tags. Click on this link. You
can now copy the code tags.
There are two ways to do this:
If you are using
Internet explorer:
The easiest way is to click the
button below the first set of
code labeled Copy to Clipboard.
If you are using
an alternative Browser:
If a button appears below the
code tag text box labeled “Highlight
Code Tags”, click this
button. The code tags should
appear highlighted, in which
case you should be able to user
CTRL+C to copy the tags to your
clipboard. (If the button does
not exist, right click inside
the textbox containing the JavaScript
code tags and then left click
on the “Select All” menu
option which should highlight
all the code)
Pasting the nextSTAT
code tags into your page:
1. Open up your web page so you
can see the HTML code (preferably
in a pure text editor like Notepad.)
2. Look for the body tags.
The beginning body tag looks
like this:
<body>
The closing body tag looks like
this:
</body>
The closing body tag is the easiest
to find, because it usually at
the very bottom, where as the
opening body tag is after the
header.
3. Paste the code tags just before
the closing body tag.
4. After pasting the code tags
into your web page, save your
web page and upload it to your
web server.
If you get a JavaScript error
when viewing your site after
pasting the tags in, you probably
didn't paste them in their entirety,
or your HTML editor was not in
the correct mode when you pasted
them. Take out the previous code
tags and place them in exactly
as they were generated. There
is no guarantee that nextSTAT
will be able to correctly operate
if the code tags are altered
from how they were originally
received. |
|
Do I need to install the code tags on every page? |
|
We
can only track pages that have
our code tags on them. If you
do not put our code tags on
a certain page, we will not
track it. There are a few things
you could do to avoid that
problem. If you have a header
or a footer that is included
on every page, you could put
it on that. If not, you might
consider creating a header
or footer, or do a Server Side
Include, especially if you
have any other snippets of
code that is repeated on each
page. |

What qualifies as a Search Engine? |
|
Search
engines are engines that use
spiders or bots to search the
web and find valuable content
for users. When a search engine
displays advertisements and
pay per clicks on their site,
they did not find the pages
through searching and are acting
as a directory, not a search
engine.
Our list of search engines is
quite extensive, but are only
the ones we have encountered
so far. If you have anything
that you feel should be on our
search engine list, and is not,
please let us know. |
